Sunday 21st February 2021
Welcome - Brenda Pegman
Confession
Father eternal, giver of light and grace,
we have sinned against you and against our neighbour,
in what we have thought,
in what we have said and done,
through ignorance, through weakness,
through our own deliberate fault.
We have wounded your love,
and marred your image in us.
We are sorry and ashamed,
and repent of all our sins.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
who died for us, forgive us all that is past;
and lead us out from darkness
to walk as children of light. Amen

Bible Reading 1 – Hebrews 5v7-10
7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth,
he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who
could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent
submission. 8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from
what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the
source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and
was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
Bible Reading 2 – Mark 1v35-39
35 Very early in the morning, while it was
still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place,
where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look
for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed:
‘Everyone is looking for you!’
38 Jesus replied, ‘Let us go somewhere
else – to the nearby villages – so that I can preach there also. That
is why I have come.’ 39 So he travelled throughout
Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

Lord’s My Shepherd
Prayer of the Day
Almighty God,
whose Son Jesus Christ fasted forty days in the wilderness,
and was tempted as we are, yet without sin:
give us grace to discipline ourselves in obedience to
your Spirit;
and, as you know our weakness,
so may we know your power to save;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for
ever. Amen

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against
us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.
